SAP BusinessObjects XI 3.1 SP2 and Xcelsius 2008 SP2

Well, it’s finally here. SAP BusinessObjects XI 3.1 SP2 has been released. And today is also the day that Xcelsius 2008 SP2 is supposed to be released. I’m currently downloading the 1.36 GB patch from the SAP Service Marketplace and trying to find the updated documentation on the SAP Help Portal. SAP puts the documentation in about 5 different places and I’m still trying to find the elusive “What’s New” document.

UPDATE: Thanks to my friend Josh Fletcher, I’m now reading the What’s New in BusinessObjects XI 3.1 Service Pack 2 document. And you can too, by following the link.

I’m still planning to use Edge BI 3.1 to demonstrate publications and Explorer at the upcoming SAP BusinessObjects User Conference sponsored by GBN. Service packs for Edge lag behind Enterprise, so hopefully I’ll have one for Edge by October. However, potential new features in SP2 might encourage me to move my demos back to Enterprise.

   One thing to watch out for. SP2 has contains up to FP 1.5 and not 1.6-1.8.

   There will be a fixpack 2.1 issued to "catch it up" See page on of the Fixed Issues guide.

   Has anyone else found that the LCM (Life Cycle Manager) is missing from the download site? I am not able to Find the 3.1 nor an update 3.1 SP2 version.

   I would like to review a migration plan/migration assessment/white paper for upgrading from BOXI R2 to BOXI R3.1. I would like to read and review best practices, practical considerations, etc. for such migration.
   I am not finding information on the SAP web site that has this information, and any assistance is greatly appreciated.

   If you do a search in the SAP Download Distribution Centre using LCM, you will locate BOBJLCM02 0-10008378.EXE

   Hi All,

   Can anyone tell me how to use SAP NetWeaver BI connectivity with BO XI 3.1 and Xcelcius 2008 : I don’t see in Xcelcius this connection option.

   Both Sp02 are installed.

   i would like to install LCM (BOBJLCM02 0-10008378.exe). i installed sp2 successfully, but when i try installing LCM i still get the error which reads “the upgrade patch cannot be installed by windows installer service because the program to be upgraded may be missing, or the upgrade patch may updatea different version of the program. verify that the program to be upgraded exists on your computer and that you have the correct upgrade patch”. kindly advice on what i could do to start installation of LCM.
